IBM has defined six strategies for grid application enablement.
In a nutshell:
Strategy 1: Batch Anywhere
Strategy 2: Independent Concurrent Batch
Strategy 3: Parallel Batch
Strategy 4: Service
Strategy 5: Parallel Services
Strategy 6: Tightly Coupled Parallel Programs
